Obituary -Fazil Ahmed. The
Architect of Indian Badminton
Passbooks, one of his and one
of his wife's of their personal savings accounts, along with blank
signed withdrawal forms, and instructed me to withdraw the money
required and requisition the neccessary kit/blazors for the squad.I
learnt later on that he was unable to sleep the previous night
thinking how to arrange the kit, etc.for the team since he wanted the
players to be in positive spirits for the approaching matches.
2-In 1982 a raw deal was being
handed over to the badminton squad by the special organizing committee
of Asian Games in Delhi .Along with all the players and coaches, Shri
Fazil Ahmed observed Dharna and fast, which compelled the authorities
to relent and things got straightened out so that the national squad
was meted out the same treatment as other leading sports squads.
He used to be present in all
the National championships from the very first day to the finals and
many problems were sorted out then and there, on the spot. Shri Fazil
Ahmed gave his to the game. He shall definitely be missed by players
and officials who were connected with game when he was around .
